St James Church
St James School maintains a close relationship with St James Church, offering us a great opportunity to provide an education firmly founded on Christ and Christian values.
As part of the daily act of collective worship, once a week a team from the St James Church Children's Ministry leads an assembly to teach the gospel and to help the children explore and implement the principles of the Christian faith in their daily lives. To enhance worship, the children are taught a variety of songs and participate in very creative, fun, bible-based discussions.
The church also provides a weekly bible study for pupils in Year 6 and a member of St James Children's Ministry team will participate and support on school trips when appropriate.
Throughout the year, parents, carers and families are invite to join the school in the church to celebrate special occasions including Harvest festival, Easter, Christmas and the Year 6 leavers service assembly. The school and the Children's Ministry work closely together with the children to organise these events.
The church's work in the wider community involves the school choir or a particular year group planning, organising and performing before one of the numerous groups who meet in the church to support a charitable cause.
Some of the children also enjoy the added benefit of Promiseland which is an interactive and dynamic Sunday School for 0-11 year olds. For further information, please click on this link for St James Church.
We hope that all parents and guardians will encourage the children and support us in our mission to give very child the opportunity to gain a firm understanding and knowledge of the Christian faith as part of their spiritual development in their time at school.
